Howdy Cowgirls

I made an extra card for Card Crafter's Circle this week.  I really like the images from KPM and wanted to try a "new" technique.

Here is my card:

A tiny tutorial using a KPM image: To make the background on the above card, I used a large and several tiny flowers from the Aqua Chrysanthemums and Dandelions set. I placed the chrysanthemum in the middle and created a circle around it using the chrysanthemum flowers, slightly overlapping them, to form a large flower design.  I then cut out the entire shape using a Spellbinders die.

Shelf Elf 3-d Ornament

A special little ornament reminding your little one that the Shelf Elf is in the North Pole during the year but return next year to report to Santa.

Yay, today is Christmas!! I'd like to wish you all the BEST!  Hope you are all enjoying your time with your family!  Today i'd like to share a special project with you...my grandkids started the tradition of the Shelf Elf and there are many wonderful images to use to participate in this fun tradition and this is one idea i have for you for next year!

I have made this ornament for Tuesday Morning Sketches and the challenge is:
Anything Goes--You have to challenge yourself - try a technique you've always wanted to try, a special fold, a special gift.

Here is what i created for you using my Cricut cartridge Tags, Bags Boxes and More2 and the special image from Digital Delights called North Pole Eddie.
I have also used the Memory Box Frostyville Border die and a Michaels snowflake punch.  I also used the tiny flakes that popped out of the Frostyville Border.

A tag idea for the new year...

The challenge at Twist of Faith is Gold and White and i wasn't quite sure what to make..and then i saw this image i had from Clear Dollar stamps and thought i could make a tag that could be used anytime of the year..for a wedding, Christmas or Birthday.

Here is my tag using the image "Jargon Mix" from Clear Dollar Stamps:
What i did was print the image off and cut it out.  Then i printed it out of gold and a shimmery white and i cut out the gold pieces and white pieces as shown and glued them on.  Then i made the sentiment/ "To and From" and cut it out using the decorative scissors. i punched a hole in the bow image and laced a decorative yarn through.  Added some flowers and ta da..a tag. :)

our sponsor this week is Clear Dollar Stamps! Our random prize winner will receive a $15 voucher for use at the Clear Dollar Stamps store.. wonderful! We're thrilled to have Clear Dollar Stamps as a sponsor because the images are wonderful, and the sentiments fit the heart of our challenges here so perfectly!

Happy Birthday, Holly

I probably won't give this card to my daughter, Holly, but it is in "honor" of her.  She will be 37 on December 20th..and i always reminisce about her birthday because she was my first born and because she was supposed to be born on the 9th...she made me have patience.

I knew if i were to have a girl (they did not do ultrasounds in 1975 unless there were complications..but i am not sure if that's even true for that year...as i had two other children i could get the year confused), so i knew i would name her Holly Noelle...

This card was made for the Tuesday Morning Sketches DT challenge blog and the sponsor is Bugaboo, the image is called,  Ava- Christmas Mistletoe Fairy:

I also used Memory Box flourish corner die and Martha Stewart's holly punch with a Petaloo Poinsettia.

Hello Friend!

When i saw the photo i was to use from {Pin}spirational Challenges this week and then the sponsor images, from Dilly Beans..i didn't go the "snowman" route...like most of the DT did..why?  For some reason this image said to me, "take me" and "use me" for this challenge.  I just visioned the flowers as poinsettias and the face as the snowman's face with the cheeks...I just love this image.  BTW..i turned her into a snowman with a flower hat.

Here is my card using a Dilly Beans image, called "Hello, Friend":

Ornamental Greetings from CTMH

Woo Hoo this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches we get to work with Close to My Heart stamps!! I've not ever used their stamps...and they are excellent to stamp with!

This week at Tuesday Morning Sketches it is not ONLY a SKETCH but a TWIST too!...what does that mean???  You need to use the sketch AND the twist in order to be put in the drawing for the prize!

So here is what i did...oh and the TWIST is NON-Traditional Christmas theme:
What i did?  I stamped both of the images using embossing ink and then i used embossing powder (Zing-grapefruit and Silver Tinsel-Ranger) to get the sparkle and the retro look.  I hand cut the stamped images out and matted them with black paper and again i hand cut them out.  Super easy because i could just follow the outline of the words.   However, if you'd like to cut out your ornaments easier there is a Cricut cartridge that CTMH has exclusively for this stamp.  I also used a Memory box corner die for the flourish and a punch for the silver fern.

Warm wishes to you

I bet by the time this blog post goes live, we will see many snowflakes..if not inches..and from what i can tell it would be a good thing in CO with the fires still going on..

This week at {Pin}spirational Challenges we are making cards based on the weekly photo as inspiration...and we also have an awesome sponsor, Digi Garden!!!

Here is my card using two of the images from Digi Garden and i paper pieced the sweaters/hats/dress.

Sweet, huh?  I used a Martha Stewart punch (large white snowflake) and the other two punches were from Michaels, the background snowflake in red/burgundy is a spellbinders snowflake punch cut in half.

Buddy's special ornament and box

Darlene is the owner of Dutch Paper Crafts and she has the most adorable dog called, Buddy..so sweet.  The DT members like to make special gifts with Buddy's picture or for Buddy..and this is what i wanted to make for Darlene using the newest release for her shop.

I have used Memory Box Drop Ornament # 98378, Colette Ornament #98379 and Snowflake Tree #98405.  The ornaments measure 4.25 and the tree measures 4.5.

Here is the Ornament:
Some other tools and a link to making the honeycomb ornament:
For the charm of Buddy (Darlene's dog), i used
Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio tool #24 round SSA16 bubble cap..this is super fun to  use!

I used the Snowflake tree for the flourish on top of the ornament, by cutting it into pieces.

I also used Origami paper for the honeycomb ornament.

I also used Shrinky Dinks white for the ornament base that the Bubble picture is on.  Again, you can cut out the Shrinky Dinks paper with your die.  I tried the detailed ornament and it doesn't work..just the base (Drop Ornament die).  You can see the size comparison.  The ornament on the left is the actual die and the attached ornament/charm is what it looks like once you shrink your ornament.  For my ornament, i used my heat gun..but be careful as it is hotter than the oven and can melt a hole in your ornament..i also used tweezers to start.  (When in doubt follow the instructions on the packaging.

The link for making the honeycomb ornament is here.  After watching the video, you will see that the picture below is how i set up the spacing for my glue dots...(it takes quite a bit of glue dots).  Also, i did not have luck with putting the knot in the center of my ornament.

Now for the box to put the ornament in, i used Memory Box Snowflake Tree # 98405, Drop Ornament #98378, Colette Ornament #98379.
Here is my box:
Also used but not in this release is Memory Box Elegant Scrollwork #98153 (my absolutely favorite die ever!)  I placed this die on each side of the ornament, but cutting the die in half once it was cut out.
What i did:
First i cut out 5 matted squares to put on the sides and the top lid of the box.  I taped them on and then i cut out 4 matted strips for the side of the lid.

Then i die cut 4 of the snowflake trees and cut them so that the "bottom" of the tree could go on the lid corners and not be hidden under the lid. (plus the lid doesn't go on well with the extra thickness). I glued the dies on the box and then decoupaged on top of the dies with two layers...and i decoupaged the paper too, don't worry the paper seems to bubble up but when it dried it laid flat..

For the ornament on top of the box, i followed the directions for the honeycomb, but i only did 11 layers and then i laid it flat on top of the box.  The papers i used on top of the box were not as flexible as the ornament...so they gave me more of an issue.  I used decoupage to attach the Colette ornament die to the top of the honeycomb ornament.  I purchased the white box at Michaels. I also used Arlene's Decoupage glue.

Merry Christmas wall hanging

You know what it's like when you see something and you don't know why you like it?  That's what happened to me at Michael's and the $1 section recently.  I made this project for Dutch Paper Crafts using a Memory Box Die from a new release at Dutch Paper Crafts store.

The dies used are, Memory Box Drop Ornament #98378, Larue Ornament #98377.

Well, back to the story..so i found the "Merry" wooden words and the plastic frames at Michaels for $1 each..are you adding up this project so far??  And then again at Michaels, i found the black ribbon..so now about $3 worth of supplies, plus the ornaments (which you can use over and over again for numerous projects!)  I've featured Darlene's cute dog, Buddy, in this frame, but you could add anything..in fact, i am making another wall hanging with 4 frames with my grandkids for a gift for my daughter.

Here is my finished project using the Memory Box ornament dies:
The instructions aren't too hard, what i did:
The frames had an easel back and took the easel off.  I hot glued the ribbon on top and made a "barrette-type" bow and hot glued that on.  Next i used the thicker part of the lettering and centered the ornament and frame before adding the ribbon to the back of the "merry" and frame.  I hot glued two pieces of ribbon to the back of "merry" and the frame and hot glued the ornament to the bottom of "R" and the side of "Y".  The tinsel is from a spool of wired tinsel at Hobby Lobby.  The sentiment is from Digital Delights (using the bottom half of a sentiment with Merry Christmas..) or you could type up your own sentiment.  I then curled the ribbon to give dimension and put two large glue dots behind it.
A close up of the die (i used a foil embossed paper for the Larue die..i will be doing this again!):

Sadie and Grandma's Magnetic ornament

I have made this project for Dutch Paper Crafts.  This new release at Dutch Paper Crafts is for Memory Box Drop Ornament #98378 (the ornament base), Emma ornament #9841 (snowflake die) and Collette ornament #98379 (loopy ornament that my granddaughter made).

Here is my finished ornament..and the instructions follow:
Also used on this ornament is DooHickey's Poinsettia die #DOOH16 and Martha Stewarts holly punch #M232316

Magnetic sheets were purchased at Home Depot/Lowes and are register vent covers.  They are thin enough to be cut with a die...and have the strength to hold on without slipping.

My 3.5yr old granddaughter made a simple one using the cuttlebug:
First we cut a small piece of magnetic vent cover to fit the base die, and then she runs it through the machine, then she cuts out the base in red and ran it through the Xyron (large size), we adhere the red to the top of the magnet.  Next she ran the decorative die (Colette ornament) and punched out the negative pieces.  Don't forget the ornament cap/top, Sadie wanted silver. We added, some wired tinsel (found in a big reel at Hobby Lobby).  Ta Da!  She had a great time making it..and says, Let's play some more, Grandma!
